Our Mission

Our Mission: The GOD’S CHILD Project

When you go solar with Jackie, you help power an orphanage and hospital in Guatemala. Every project brings us closer to energy independence for children who need it most.

A Connection That Started 35 Years Ago

In 1990, a group of children from The GOD’S CHILD Project visited Jackie Kelly’s high school. They played volleyball, practiced Spanish, and shared stories about their lives in Antigua, Guatemala. That afternoon changed Jackie’s life forever.

For more than three decades, Jackie has supported The GOD’S CHILD Project through financial contributions, advocacy, and awareness. Now, through her solar consulting business, she is working toward her ultimate goal: funding and installing solar panels at the GOD’S CHILD orphanage and Casa Jackson Hospital for Malnourished Children in Antigua, Guatemala. Reliable electricity is not a luxury there – it is the difference between life and death for critically ill children during frequent grid outages.

About The GOD’S CHILD Project

The GOD’S CHILD Project (GCP) is a non-denominational nonprofit founded in 1991 by Patrick Atkinson out of Bismarck, North Dakota. Operating primarily in Guatemala through their local partner Asociacion Nuestros Ahijados, GCP cares for and educates more than 5,000 orphaned, abandoned, and poverty-stricken children, widows, and families.

Their work is built around four pillars:

Education

K-12 schools, vocational training, and scholarship programs that break the cycle of poverty through learning.

Healthcare

The Casa Jackson Hospital for Malnourished Children provides critical medical care to children suffering from severe malnutrition.

Housing

Safe, permanent housing for families who would otherwise live in dangerous conditions without basic shelter.

Sustainable Development

Micro-enterprise programs, agricultural training, and community development that create long-term self-sufficiency.

Even Rick Steves traveled to Guatemala to film a PBS special featuring their work. The GOD’S CHILD Project has been recognized internationally for 35 years of impact.

How Your Solar Project Helps

When you choose Solar With Jackie for your home, church, or business solar project, a portion of the proceeds goes directly to The GOD’S CHILD Project. Jackie’s goal is to raise enough to fund a complete solar installation at the orphanage and Casa Jackson Hospital, giving them reliable, clean energy that protects children during Guatemala’s frequent and dangerous power outages.

Every panel on your roof brings us one step closer to panels on theirs.
